The club was formed in the early 1960's. The first
activities of the Trailblazers Saddle Club consisted
of many trailrides followed by a potluck dinner. Some
of these rides were overnight rides. The members would
ride all day and share stories over a campfire at night.
Then the competitive edge entered the picture and the
club would become involved in running horse shows. The
first shows were held in the Arkansaw and Durand area,
running on a makeshift arena. The saddle club was fortunate
to have some land donated for construction of an arena.
This arena is now in Pepin, WI and has been host to
a number of excellent shows.
The club still has some of the original members: Bob
Manor and family, Jim Westberg and family and Warren
Bradshaw and family. The club has a growing membership,
with the members attending trailrides, parades and competing
at local events.
Our club belongs to the Western Saddle Club Association
as well as the South Eastern Minnesota Saddle Club Association
and now the United Barrel Racing Association.
Current officers include:
President - Jim Westberg
